[ In short ]
- Most teams pay twice: a mail suite for everyone, and an AI assistant on top for the people who live in their inbox.
- Example: 5 people, 2 of them with an assistant, monthly billing. The cheapest mix in the calculator is €89.96 a month (Microsoft 365 Business Basic + Fyxer Starter).
- The same team on Skein is €36 a month at the founder price, with mail and agent in one plan.
- The suites include documents, storage and video calls that an email-only product does not; count what you would still need.
01Compare your monthly cost
Set how many people need a mailbox and how many of them need an AI assistant, choose monthly or yearly billing and an assistant, and compare. Every price is per month in euros.
Per month, in euros, before VAT where the vendor lists it so
- Skein · founder price€362 with the agent + 3 mailboxes · list €53
- Google Workspace Business Starter + Fyxer Starter€94.065 × €8.10 + 2 × €26.78
- Google Workspace Business Standard + Fyxer Starter€134.565 × €16.20 + 2 × €26.78
- Microsoft 365 Business Basic + Fyxer Starter€89.965 × €7.28 + 2 × €26.78
- Microsoft 365 Business Standard + Fyxer Starter€126.365 × €14.56 + 2 × €26.78
Against the cheapest mix here, Skein costs €53.96 less a month, about €647.52 a year.
The suites also include documents, storage and video calls, which Skein does not. Skein’s price is the founder price for the first 100 teams, kept while you stay subscribed (see pricing).

02The prices behind the calculator
These are the public list prices per person per month on the date above. Yearly means a one-year plan or commitment, which is how most small teams buy. Google and Microsoft list their prices before VAT.
| Product | Monthly plan | Yearly plan | In euros (yearly) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Workspace Business Starter | €8.10 | €6.80 | €6.80 |
| Google Workspace Business Standard | €16.20 | €13.60 | €13.60 |
| Microsoft 365 Business Basic | €7.28 | €6.07 | €6.07 |
| Microsoft 365 Business Standard | €14.56 | €12.13 | €12.13 |
| Fyxer Starter | US$30 | US$22.50 | €20.08 |
| Fyxer Professional | US$50 | US$37.50 | €33.47 |
| Superhuman Business | US$40 | US$33 | €29.45 |
Fyxer and Superhuman list prices in US dollars, so the calculator converts them at the European Central Bank reference rate of the same day (1.1204 dollars per euro). Your card issuer’s rate and fees will differ slightly.
03How the total is calculated
- The mail suite is charged for everyone who needs a mailbox.
- The AI assistant is charged only for the people you say need it.
- Skein charges each person with the agent by the tier they fall in, so adding one never raises the others, and the rest as mailboxes without the agent.
- The cheapest suite-plus-assistant mix is compared with the founder price, per month and per year.
Skein’s figure is the founder price for the first 100 teams, kept for as long as the team stays subscribed; the list price is shown next to it. Tiers and the mailbox price are on the pricing section. Skein is not open yet: founders reserve a spot by paying their first month, which only starts the day they get access.
04What each option includes
| Mail suite + assistant | Skein | |
|---|---|---|
| Email on your domain | Yes | Yes |
| Documents, spreadsheets, storage, video calls | Yes | No: keep the tools you use |
| AI drafts and follow-ups | From the assistant, on top | Included for people with the agent |
| Where the mail is hosted | Depends on the vendor, plan and settings | In the EU |
| Number of bills and vendors | Two | One |
If your team relies on Google Docs or Microsoft Office every day, the suite stays useful whatever you do with email. The calculator then answers a narrower question: what you pay for email plus an assistant.

05Common mistakes when comparing email costs
- Comparing a promotional first-months price with a list price. Promotions end; the calculator leaves them out.
- Counting the assistant for everyone when only the people who sell, hire or raise need it.
- Forgetting that monthly and yearly plans differ by about a sixth for most of these products.
- Mixing prices with and without VAT. Compare like with like, and add VAT at the end if you cannot reclaim it.
- Ignoring what you would still pay for: if you keep the suite for documents, the saving is smaller.

Questions
- How much does business email cost per user?
- From about €6.07 per person per month on a yearly plan for the entry plans of Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, before VAT. Monthly plans without commitment cost more.
- How much do AI email assistants cost?
- Fyxer’s plans start at US$22.50 per person per month billed yearly, and Superhuman Mail’s Business plan is US$33 billed yearly. Both run on top of Gmail or Outlook, so you still pay for the mailbox.
- Is Skein’s price in the calculator final?
- It is the founder price from Skein’s own price list, the same numbers as the pricing section, before VAT. It applies to the first 100 teams and is kept while they stay subscribed.
- Why are some prices converted from dollars?
- Fyxer and Superhuman publish prices in US dollars. To compare in one currency, the calculator converts them at the ECB reference rate of the day the prices were checked.
